Template wizard tabs explained
The Templates wizard is organized into a series of tabs that guide you through creating and managing a template, from defining its scope and components to configuring behavior, reviewing settings, and monitoring results.
Tabs in the wizard |
Description |
|---|---|
Details |
Define the basic information for your template. This includes the template name, description, device type, and target firmware version. These selections establish the scope and identity of the template. |
Components |
Select which parts of the device configuration the template will manage. Based on your selections (for example, settings, file system, or containers), the wizard dynamically includes only the relevant configuration steps in subsequent tabs. |
File System |
Manage files that will be deployed to devices. You can upload, replace, or remove files as part of the template, enabling consistent file distribution across your fleet. |
Settings |
Configure device settings that the template will enforce. This can include network, firewall, routing, and other system-level configurations depending on the device type. |
Maintenance and Compliance |
Define how updates and compliance actions are handled. You can configure behaviors such as firmware updates, retry logic if an update fails, and how strictly devices must adhere to the template configuration. |
Scanning |
Define when and how devices are checked against the template. You can configure scan frequency, scheduling, and conditions that trigger compliance checks. |
Finalize and Review |
Provides a summary of your template configuration. You can review all selections and settings before saving or deploying the template to ensure everything is configured as intended. |
Scan Results (History) |
Displays the results of all previous template scans. It shows device compliance status, any detected issues, and the outcome of applied actions, helping you monitor and troubleshoot template execution. |
