About the carrier profile
A carrier profile is a downloadable QR code or text string that contains a cellular carrier's digital identity information that your Digi device uses to register on their cellular network. The profile includes:
-
Which carrier you’re using
-
How to authenticate on their network
-
What settings to use (like APN)
-
Your subscriber identity (IMSI)
-
Encryption keys for secure connection
The carrier profile is stored on an eSIM. You can configure a preferred carrier profile, as well as configure SureLink to switch between carrier profiles when a connection cannot be made.
Think of a carrier profile as a digital file downloaded to the eSIM in a Digi device. This profile is no longer tied to a physical SIM card. Identity information becomes digital, not physical.
A profile typically includes:
-
IMSI (your subscriber ID)
-
Carrier settings (APN, network selection, etc.)
-
Security keys
-
Network authentication data
-
Rules for roaming
-
Profile name / provider info
This information gets securely stored on the eUICC (the eSIM chip inside the device).
For Digi eSIM-capable devices, a carrier profile is used to allow the device to:
-
Connect to a chosen mobile carrier
-
Switch carriers remotely
-
Hold multiple carrier profiles at once
-
Remove or install profiles without physical SIM handling
