SIM interfaces and built-in eSIM behavior
Some Digi devices with a built-in eSIM support three SIM sources: physical SIM slot 1, physical SIM slot 2, and a built-in eSIM soldered inside the device. Although three SIM sources are present in the hardware, they are not all available for simultaneous use. The physical SIM card inserted in SIM slot 2 and the built-in eSIM share the same underlying SIM interface. Because of this shared interface, only one of these two SIM sources can be used at a time. When one is active, the other is unavailable. As a result, the IX25 supports the following valid SIM usage combinations:
-
Physical SIM slot 1 and the embedded eSIM
In this configuration, physical SIM slot 2 is not usable because the Active internal eSIM setting is enabled.
-
Physical SIM slot 1 and physical SIM slot 2
In this configuration, the embedded eSIM is not usable.
The router enforces these constraints automatically to ensure that only supported SIM combinations are active at any given time. eSIM configuration is managed via the cellular modem settings. To configure the modem on your eSIM capable device, see your product specific user guide.
