FAQs
A subscription is a purchased, time-based agreement that uses licenses to entitle devices or users to a specific feature or capability in Digi Remote Manager. A subscription represents a feature and unlocks the functionality needed to use this feature in the UI. Each subscription comes with a predetermined quantity of licenses, which can be assigned to devices or users:
-
For devices: This type of license is assigned to a device registered to the account. The base Standard/Premier Digi Remote Manager plans work this way, and so do device-level features like WAN Bonding.
-
For users: This type of license is assigned to a user registered to the account who needs access to a feature, like DANI.
Adding a license assigns an available license to a device or user, allowing it to use that feature or service. This reduces the number of available licenses in the subscription.
Adding to a renewal plan does not assign or change any licenses. It adds a subscription to a list of subscriptions you intend to renew, along with their estimated renewal cost, which you can review or export for planning purposes.
Use the Unlicensed Devices tab on the Subscriptions page. It lists every device in your account that does not currently have a license assigned.
The license is removed from the device or user and returned to the pool of available licenses, where it can be assigned elsewhere.
The renewal budgetary price is an estimate based on MSRP. Actual renewal pricing may vary.
Subscriptions can be device-based, where licenses are assigned to a device (such as WAN Bonding), or seat-based, where licenses are assigned to a user (such as DANI).
Licenses purchased at different times are tracked as separate contract entries in that subscription because each purchase has its own renewal date. For example, purchasing 100 DANI licenses and later purchasing 300 more results in two entries in the DANI subscription, each with its own license count and renewal date, rather than a single pool of 400.
All available licenses for that subscription are already assigned to users. To assign additional licenses, purchase more for that subscription or unassign a license from another user.
Active means the license is currently valid and in use. Expiring means the license's term ends soon but it's still active. Grace Period means the term has ended but the license remains usable for a limited window while renewal is pending. Expired means the term and any grace period have passed, and the license is no longer valid.
