About subscriptions
A subscription is a purchased, time-based agreement that uses licenses to entitle devices or users to a specific feature or capability in Digi Remote Manager. These licenses fall into one of two categories: Device management or Add-on.
-
Device management license: Entitles a device to be managed in Digi Remote Manager (for example, Digi 360 or Digi Premier).
-
A Digi 360 subscription license is included on the device at the time of purchase. Contact your Reseller or Digi Sales Representative for subscription renewal.
-
A Digi Premier subscription license can be assigned to a device in Digi Remote Manager. Use the Subscriptions page in Digi Remote Manager to manage these licenses. These types of subscriptions require subscription renewal.
-
-
Add-on license, for a device or user: Entitles a device to use a specific capability (for example, WAN Bonding or Containers) or entitles a user to use a feature (for example, DANI). Use the Subscriptions page in Digi Remote Manager to manage these licenses. These types of subscriptions require subscription renewal.
Multiple subscriptions of the same type
You can have more than one subscription of the same type in your account. Each subscription has its own number of licenses and its own expiration date, so you can add licenses over time and keep each batch separate.
For example, you may have many DANI subscriptions with a total pool of 671 licenses, but those subscriptions are sub divided by expiration date.
A license expires when the subscription it comes from expires. When you assign a license to a user, you choose which subscription it comes from, so you control how long the user's access lasts. If a user's current license is about to expire, assign a new license from a subscription with a later expiration date, so their access continues without interruption.
Why subscriptions are useful
Subscriptions support effective license and service management because they:
-
Define exactly which entitlements an account holds, and how many.
-
Set a fixed license count, so availability and usage are never a guessing game.
-
Have renewal dates, so an expired subscription can be identified before it affects service.
-
Can be renewed, upgraded, or expanded ahead of need, supporting proactive capacity planning.
Because subscriptions work this way, you and the accounts you manage can avoid unexpected service limitations and keep licensing aligned with deployment requirements.
In simple terms
A subscription is what your account pays for to unlock and use a capability or feature. It comes with a set number of licenses that are consumed as you assign them to devices or users.
