Options for updating cellular modem firmware

There are multiple ways to update modem firmware. It is important to know the DAL OS firmware running on your Digi device as that determines the methods available to you, as well as whether you can update one or many routers at the same time. Each option - and links to the instructions for each - are listed below. Before proceeding, make sure to review the list of update considerations in Before you begin.

If running DAL OS 24.9 or older

Add a step to a new or already-created automation to automatically update the cellular modem firmware when the automation is run.

If running DAL OS 24.12 or newer

In the template that controls the devices with the cellular modems you wish to update, in the Templates wizard, go the Cellular Modem Firmware tab to configure this function.
