Options for upgrading cellular modem firmware

There are multiple ways to upgrade modem firmware. It is important to know the DAL OS firmware running on your Digi device as that determines the methods available to you, as well as whether you can upgrade one or many routers at the same time. Each option - and links to the instructions for each - are listed below. Before proceeding, make sure to review the list of upgrade considerations in Before you begin.

If running DAL OS 24.9 or older

Add a step to a new or already-created automation to automatically upgrade the cellular firmware when the automation is run.

If running DAL OS 24.12 or newer

In the template that controls the routers with the cellular modems you wish to upgrade, in the Templates wizard, go the Cellular Modem Firmware tab to configure this function.
