Things to know
It’s still a SIM
Subscriber Identity Module, just programmable. Your cellular identity is stored digitally on a programmable chip—either embedded in the device or on a removable plastic eSIM card.
eSIM is available on select Digi devices.
Downloaded doesn’t mean active. A carrier profile can be obtained (downloaded) but the device might not be using it right now—always verify which profile is actually in use. See View a list of carrier profiles on a device.
Bootstrap profiles require renewal. Some deployments use a starter profile for initial connectivity; if it isn’t renewed, it may not connect even though other downloaded profiles still work.
Some Digi devices with a built-in eSIM support three SIM sources, but they are not all available for simultaneous use. Review SIM interfaces and built-in eSIM behavior to understand valid SIM usage combinations.
